Hello everyone, I'm back for another round. This month for the Lime Light we are bringing you files from the Foxx, Jade Foxx that is! Stay tuned to see why she is every mans MIXSTRESS!

Kreoliciouz: Hello world and we are back with another Lime Light edition. This is a special Lime Light to me because we have the one and only Jade Foxx in the building, and most importantly a female dominating the game! How you doing ma?

Jade Foxx: Whutup mama? First off thank you so much for all your support and the interest to interview me. I deeply appreciate the luv and it’s really dope to have this unity among females in the industry, for real! I'm doin’ great ma! Definitely trying to dominate!

No doubt ma, definitely feel that, we gotta stick together. You have been in the game for a minute doing ya thang, tell us how you got started?

Jade Foxx: I've been singing and writing poetry since I was a little girl. Loved Hip-Hop/Rap but never took it really as a career to pursue. A few years back I was influenced to start rhyming. Some friends suggested it and they were serious too. They knew I could sing and could write. It just came kinda easy once I got into it. A few months after I started rhyming seriously, I started networking and just trying to build up my connects. I started fuckin' with the mixtapes and trying to spread the word. Started building with producers and basically industry heads from all over the world. I bought a Mac, and a Protools set-up for my room with a Mic. From that point on, it was a wrap. I like to get shit done, so I do.

Being a female in this male dominated industry, do you say it was hard to be heard and get established?

Jade Foxx: Absolutely ma! I still have trouble and damn thanks for the compliment. I'm not nearly as established as I hope to be soon :) First of all, you got the folks who judge you based on your image and how little you wear, if you're overdressed - most times you're underrated. If you're not a video-vixen look-alike who shows more skin than skills, too bad for you - you'll probably never get the respect & love you deserve. Then there’s always the group who assumes you are gonna be or sound the same as the last chick, which I really hate because they have these assumptions without even giving the shit a listen. Only making that problem worse, I'm in the dirty south so automatically people wanna think that I'm on some Crunk shit. Then, you got the people with completely irrelevant intentions - such as getting some ass. Shady dudes always wanna think that a female is willing to do ANYTHING to get on, but fuck that - that ain't me at all! There are really a lot of things I could talk about with this subject but what's important is keeping it moving!!!! Luckily, I have overcome a lot of my obstacles with getting heard so I only see it getting better from this point. Recently I decided that it’s more important to focus on my fans and those who support my movement, rather than dwelling on those trying to slow me down or just ignoring my presence all together. I know what I was put on this earth for and I'm gonna do it whether y'all pay attention or not! Aside from being a female, I think it is just really difficult all together, for any indie unsigned artist to get that buzz started, so props to those men and women who have pulled it off. It's never an easy task.

What is a day in the life of Jade Foxx like?

Jade Foxx: Man, I am the most low-key low-maintenance 22 year old you ever met. People would probably think I'm a boring ass female but that's cool with me, I don't mind it. My day is just a regular day. The bills gotta get paid!!! I still got the 9-5 so I'm up at 6-7am to get ready for work, I'm at work til 5-5:30pm (I do insurance). I took a lil' break from school for now. When I get home, it's strait to the lab! I try to take advantage of every free minute because my time is scarce. Usually I'm doing music from 6pm to 1or 2am at least every day. It's a continuous cycle, boring right? I don't really have a social life. I barely party or go out, barely drink, but I do smoke a whole lot! Weekends are 90% music also, rarely do I party. I'm really committed to this music shit and it's basically my life and what I do with my spare time. This is not a hobby to me, this is my life. I'm low-key and I like it that way. I'm glad I got all the partying and running around out of my system at an early age cuz now I have the dedication & mind-set to get business handled.

Who were/are your influences in the music industry?

Jade Foxx: I was really influenced by KRS-ONE cuz um that's KRS-ONE! Dead Prez cuz they on some real shit and I feel that 110%. Nas cuz I think his flow and content is brilliant. MC Lyte cuz she is that chick! Eminem cuz he flows his ass off, insane with the skills, and our skin is similar in shades. I think my come-up will be faced with some of the same situations he has probably had to deal with cuz of his race. Lauryn Hill because of her individuality and singing/rhyming combination. Jay-Z cuz come on that’s HOV! Alicia Keys cuz home girl is just SICK in every aspect. 2Pac cuz he has embodied every emotion possible through his music - he's a true legend! Masta Ace cuz he is an OG and really has always had some shit to say! Ludacris cuz aside from being a dope artist and performer, he really came into the game with a bang and has consistently been bangin'. Missy because she is not only a creative artist and producer, she is a woman about her business and she has not depended on sex to sell her records. Same with Latifah and Jean Grae, I really look up to them too. Of course people like Russell Simmons, Diddy, Dame Dash, etc are all influences because of their business tactics and being all-around successful moguls in the game.

If you could work with anyone in the industry, dead or alive, productions or on the mic, who would it be?

Jade Foxx: Damn do I only get to name 1? Ha-ha, there's soooo many. But ever since I started rhyming, I would LUV to work with Premier. That would be lovely!

You have over 200 appearances under your belt in the mixtape circuit. Do you remember your first? How was it, compared to where you are now?

Jade Foxx: Yesssss!!!!!!!!! 200+ have came and went but you never forget ya first :) Ha-ha! DJ Jesse Jazz (Orlando, FL) was the first to take interest in my music and support me on a mixtape. That was like 3 years ago man, time flies!!!!! And don't get it twisted, he still holds me down to the fullest. Since then, I have been blessed to have the opportunity to appear on projects released by DJ Kool Kid, Tapemasters Inc, DJ Vlad, and DJs I never imagined being in contact with. My music is serviced to like 300 DJs and in my opinion, that alone is a huge achievement for an indie artist such as myself. I'm grateful for all the DJs I have connected with and gained support from! Whutup Jesse!!!!!!! Thanks for believing in tha guuuul :)

Working with a lot of people throughout the years, what's your most memorable experience?

Jade Foxx: To be real, there are a few memorable experiences but one that will always stand out in my mind, is lacing my song "Shine" a few years ago. This was my rap debut, the first track I ever spit on. I remember recording it at my homie O. Allen's crib with my dude Weapon-EX now known as Ross Vega. He was a huge part in my starting to rhyme and I will never ever ever forget the day we laced that song, as corny as it may sound ha-ha. Produced by Frank Diggs, "Shine" was and still is a banger!!! How could I forget my rap debut?!

What was your worst experience? Can we get that bad experience moment that, or embarrassing moment in the industry? Ha-ha!

Jade Foxx: Luckily I haven't really had that many bad experiences...yet! Ha-ha! But one thing I do remember and hate thinking bout; one time when I was down south handing out my mixtapes, like over a year ago, I remember turning around at one point and seeing 2 of them thrown on the floor. That shit pissed me off, they could've at least given it back to me! I spent money on that!!!!! Damn! That was dirty. Ha-ha!

I feel you on that ma, how they like you now! After releasing so many mixtapes, you are currently working on an album. Tell us more about the album, and can we expect any features and when can we cop it off shelves?

Jade Foxx: The album is being wrapped up as we speak, the tracks are done and now it’s in the finishing stages. It should be dropping by the end of the year/beginning of 2006. The single will be impacting the streets and airwaves very soon. I don't have any artists featured on the album, because as my first release I didn't wanna smother the project with other people. Don't get me wrong, I love working with other folks, but I felt it was important to come correct on this debut - showcasing what I do, and not drown it with collabos. I have had the chance to put in work with possibly the hottest up and coming production teams for this decade, such as the Beat Peddlers (UK), Think Tank Productions (UK), Filthy Fangaz Productions (FL/MA), Hitz Productionz (NY) and a few others. The beats on this album are insane, and I'm picky as hell when it comes to beats so y'all must know that this album is gonna be an absolute BANGER, with the marriage of Jade Foxx and all this dope ass production!

How does one go about collaborating with you?

Jade Foxx: All you gotta do is hit up my management, they can arrange it! Reach out to info@jade-foxx.com

What's next for Jade Foxx? You just released your mixtape "Let a Woman Handle This V:2" and you’re working on your album, what else can we look forward too?

Jade Foxx: I will continue to put in that work and grind out until I reach the point I'm tryin to get to. Ideally I wanna drop a new installment of "Let a Woman Handle This" every 6-8 months, so hopefully I can make that happen. I also will continue hosting and producing "Tha Foxx Filez" on www.HotCityRadio.com and www.ConspiracyUK.com cuz I love doing it. Aside from that, I’m just looking forward to quitting my day job, (Ha-ha) and a lot of touring (in and outside of the US). The music will stay consistent and Full Impact Ent will really start to pop. After I have made my impact as an artist, I can get involved in other background aspects of the industry that I will ultimately stay doing when the time comes. I got a lot of shit lined up, y'all will just have to stay tuned and find out what it is!!! :)

Are there other sides to the business you can see yourself being involved with? Other ventures that you may want to take?

Jade Foxx: Oh absolutely!!! First there’s our label Full Impact Entertainment, which eventually will have a full roster of artists we are pushing and trying to get out there; but that won't be for a while. I also want to get involved with song-writing for other artists. Even though this goes against my whole "an artist should write their own shit" theory, I could still eat off my songwriting skills so I definitely wouldn't mind doing that. Also want to get more involved in the marketing and promotion side of the biz somewhere down the line. Really, there is a lot of background stuff I would love to get involved with once I have made my mark as an artist, including production, managing, and more.

Everybody always ask round about numbers like 5 or 10, when they ask where you see yourself then. I want to be difficult and ask where do you see yourself 18 months from today?

Jade Foxx: Well this might sound kinda messed up but I honestly see myself getting close to the top if not already there 18 months from today. I feel like it could pretty much be any day now that something really pops off. If we get the first single blazin' up the clubs and airwaves and the album drops on time, it is very possible that I will be attaining my goal real soon. With the way things have been going, I really can't imagine something major not happening before then. I'd really love to be touring Europe in 18 months but we'll have to see bout that! :)

That’s what’s up, you really are focused and doing your thang. This is my first female interview, (due to finding that female that is conquering the game like yourself.) and I usually ask the males about their love life. Does Jade have a special someone in her life?

Jade Foxx: I do have a man and he supports me completely. I'm blessed to have him in my life and I never forget that. Whutup pa! Love U!

Awwwe, that’s what’s up! Here is a little interview humor game we play each month called "This or That?" In the club, can we find you on the dance floor or at the bar?

Jade Foxx: Dayum decisions are hard! I hate having to choose ma, Ha-ha! See that all depends. Usually you can find me tearing it up on the dance floor, but if the DJ is wack and the cutie is paying, you can definitely find me at the bar. Ha-ha!

Are you rockin' Stiletto boots or Timberland boots?

Jade Foxx: Depends on the day and mood. Sometimes my feet hurt so I can't fuck with the stilettos. I love my stiletto boots but usually it’s the Timbs the Bapes or the AF1s.

Are you more into action flix or comedy flix?

Jade Foxx: I like mostly all types of movies but I love my comedies. I like to laugh so that's right up my alley. I like action, drama, also a big fan of scary movies too.

This is your time to shine, so inform us of anything that you feel we need to know, and how we can keep up with the movement of Jade Foxx.
